Frequently Asked QuestionsQ: What information is needed to accurately quote a row of blades? During the quotation process, complete, accurate data is often unavailable. The more information we have, the fewer assumptions we have to make and the better the quote will be, both in price and delivery. If some blades are already out of the wheel, send them to us for the best possible quotation. The next best thing is one or more digital photos of the blades in the wheel, with overall approximate dimensions. Other useful information includes the turbine OEM, size and rating of the turbine, steam conditions, blade dimensions as accurate as possible, whether there is a steam slope at the bottom and/or top of the airfoil, the shape of the root if known, whether the blades are inserted in the wheel with or without spacers between them, and whether the airfoil cross-section is constant or variable (i.e., twisted or tapered). Sketches, however crude, are helpful. If you wish to discuss this, give us a call. If we need additional information, we'll let you know. |
